This policy explains what personal data Gentleman's ebooks & digital products collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to purchases made on it.
Who we are
This website is operated by Gentleman's Digital Products, based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. For any privacy question or request, email support@gentlemansebooks.com or use the contact form and choose “Privacy / data request”.
What we collect and why
- Orders: your name, email address, billing country and the billing details our checkout asks for, the products you bought, prices, taxes and order dates. We need these to deliver your purchase, issue receipts and invoices, provide downloads and licences, handle refunds and meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Customer account: if you create an account, your login email, password (stored only in hashed form) and your order and download history.
- Support messages: the name, email, order number (optional) and message you send through our contact form, kept in our internal support log so we can answer and follow up.
- Email updates: if you tick the consent box, your email address and the date and wording of your consent. We use it only to tell you about new products, major updates and useful guides. Every email has an unsubscribe route, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
- Technical data: our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested and time) for security and troubleshooting.
We do not ask for or store full payment card details. Payments are handled directly by our payment provider.
Payment providers
Payments are processed by the payment provider shown at checkout (for example Razorpay or PayPal). They receive the details needed to take the payment and prevent fraud, and they process them under their own privacy policies. We receive only confirmation of the payment status and limited details (such as the last four digits of a card or a PayPal transaction ID).
Service providers we use
- Website hosting: Hostinger, which hosts this website and its database.
- E-commerce software: WooCommerce, running on our own WordPress installation.
- Payment processing: the provider you choose at checkout.
- Email delivery: order emails and support replies are sent from our website and mail service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed for the website and shop to work:
- Shopping cart and session cookies (such as woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart and wp_woocommerce_session_*) remember your cart and checkout.
- Login cookies (such as wordpress_logged_in_*) keep you signed in to your account.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add analytics, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting them. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading the site does not send your IP address to a font provider.
How long we keep data
- Order and invoice records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Customer accounts: until you ask us to delete the account, apart from the order records we must keep.
- Support messages: up to 3 years after the conversation ends, unless they relate to an open dispute.
- Email-update subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU or UK under the GDPR, India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict some processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, contact us at support@gentlemansebooks.com. We will verify your request and reply within the time the applicable law allows. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
We operate from India, and our service providers may process data in other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international transfers.
Children
This website and its products are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices or tools change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest revision.
