Accuracy matters most when you are deciding what to buy or how to use a tool. This policy explains how we check what we publish and how we fix mistakes.
Sources we rely on
- First-hand testing: installing, running and using the products and tools we write about, including our own.
- Official sources: vendor documentation, pricing pages, changelogs, standards and government or regulator websites.
- Reputable secondary sources only when no primary source exists, and clearly identified.
How we check content before publishing
- Factual claims, figures, prices and compatibility statements are checked against the sources above.
- Screenshots are taken from the real product and version being described.
- Comparisons and buying guides state their evaluation criteria and the date prices and features were checked.
- Affiliate content goes through an extra check that the disclosure is visible and the recommendation is justified.
Keeping content up to date
Each article shows its publish date and its last update date. We review buying guides and comparisons regularly and update or retire pages that are no longer accurate. Product pages are updated when a new version is released.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date and what changed.
